So, I happen to love the question, “What is the best and worst Christmas gift you have ever received?” Obviously, because I have a good answer but also because I love to hear other people’s responses.
I’ve mentioned before, my answer, for the best gift ever, from the voice of a 4-year-old girl, “My Barbie Dream House!” Oh, how my sister, Meri, and I wanted the Barbie Dream House. I don’t know what the house looks like now, but in 1975 it was pretty much cardboard with an elevator that moved up and down on a string (the string got caught a lot, so the elevator was often stuck) enabling Barbie to move from floor to floor. I spent hours decorating Barbie’s house and dressing her for all her parties.
Now, outside of a toy gift, you know I am going to say my best gift ever was clothing. When I was in 7th grade, and I received two articles of clothing that were high on my must-have list, Guess Jeans, a CB Jacket. I wanted the lightweight version, which I think was called a CB Shell Jacket.
Who fell out of their chair about my fashion selections? No one, but there is more to the story.
Now, for the worst gift, because let’s be honest, that’s the best part of this story. One year my mom gave my sister, and I evacuate masks. Yes, evacuate masks to be used in case of an emergency. I can’t explain why I opened it to look at the instructions. I guess even in my hysterical state; I was trying to be polite.
We have gotten a lot of laughs over the years for this gift, so I guess it was a good investment from that perspective. How about you, what’s the best and worst gift you ever received? Can you top an evacuate mask?
